I'm trying to install on an older laptop I have but when I get to the emerge sync step I can't do it PCMCIA is not enabled, I dont' have an ethernet connection, only the local host. I have a 3Com card model number 3cxe589et anyone know what I need to do? |

I'm confused somewhat by if you have PCMCIA enabled in your kernel or not. Also, do you have pcmcia-cs installed?
[edit] Forgot to say, I believe for that card you would want to use 3c59x |
