|
|
In several games on Linux, I've had an extremely slow
FPS. When I looked in the readme files of one of them, namely
Cube, I saw that this problem could be due to Linux using
the mesa video drivers instead of the specific card drivers. Has
anyone run into this problem, and how can it be solved?
Thanks in advance,

Which card do you have? If you have an NVIDIA card, it's worth installing their drivers, by
Code: | emerge nvidia-kernel nvidia-glx
opengl-update nvidia |
In fact here's extended docs on how to do this:

I have ATI, and the driver said it installed and all, but
I'm still getting the horrible FPS. |

Yes, I've done this whole thing. Also, games in windowed mode run
fine, but tuxracer and Cube in windowed mode do not. |

If I'm trying to debug X, I normally look in /var/log/Xorg.0.log, or run dmesg to see more info - do either of these commands help? I'm clutching at straws here, really. _________________ Well, the Sister was right. You boys could use a little churching up. Slide on down to the Triple Rock, and catch Rev. Cleophus.
