Hello! well, I saw something quite nice in Kde which was that each desktop could have a different background so... i was wondering
could you have the same with gnome?!
I mean to have each different desktop with different backgrounds?!
Do I make myself clear?!

HIG: Human Interface Guide.
Basically, Gnome 1 was hideously riced, so the devs reacted by making Gnome 2 a lot simpler; ripping out options in favour of making it work right in the first place. Some people don't like the result; personally I think the result is the most usable mainstream interface yet created.

There is an app for what you want; I think it's called "wallpapoz". Warning though: it has an appalling interface, looks like it was designed by a brain-dead chipmunk. One of these days I'll get around to writing a usable version.

I have finished converting the wallpapoz source to python source to make installation easier. Many people failed to install wallpapoz because of gtkmm.
