Ciao a tutti , era a ndato a farmi un panino....al ritorno trovo la kdm che mi chiede di riloggarmi....quindi ho pensato ad un reboot.....

Panico no... era un kernel Oops, ovvero qualcosa non ha funzionato come dovrebbe e, nel mal funzionamento ha trascinato con se xmms, gkrellm2, knotify, ... e il server X....
Le cause potrebbero essere le piú varie, dal problema hardware alla mancata ricompilazione post-gcc3.4 passanto per bachi nell'applicativo e GFLAGS troppo spinte. O anche problemi nei driver X.
Insomma, detto cosí é un poco difficile da stabilire...

Ieri é stato aggiornato il gcc.
Dopo l'installazione ci sono un pó di cosette da fare, se ne parla qui.
Certo, visto che mi fai questa domanda mi sa che non é il tuo problema, visto che non avresti fatto neanche i passi iniziali

In sostanza, randomaze parlava del fatto che recentemente sotto architettura intel è stato marcato come stabile il gcc 3.4.x (il precedente era 3.3.x).
Se un utente effettuava un aggiornamento in maniera errata (cioè non seguendo guide come questa), poteva portare a incongruenze e malfunzionamenti del sistema.
Da come tu rispondi, sia randomaze che noi altri abbiamo capito che non è il tuo caso (cioè, non hai aggiornato gcc), altrimenti ce lo avresti detto oppure avresti subito capito di che parlavamo...
Precisato ciò (e spero di essermi fatto capire...Tendo a scrivere da cani...  ), sono anch'io dell'opinione che abbiamo pochi elementi per stabilire cosa e perchè è successo alla tua linux box...
