It works well with gaim (w/o the voice feature) and should work with any jabber client

If you need a gmail invite to test it out post back (or pm) with a valid email address and I would be happy to send you one.

thank you for your replies...I was told that it is very good as far as voip is concerned...someone told me that it will be supported by gaim from the next version on...I hope this goes for the voip feature aswell...I guess I'll have to stick with skype for the time being...

it does do ok (at least in windows). For linux, Gizmo is maturing rapidly and is getting pretty good, there are ebuilds on bugzilla. https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103587

You can also use any of the sip services like freeworlddialup or stanaphone with one of the sip clients. for sip clients, I like twinkle. As for gmail talk, gaim-vv might support it now, I don't really know.

The new gaim should be out close to the end of the year. The lead gaim developer now works for google so you can expect all google talk features to be available in gaim in the future.

If you are interested in Google Talk voice features, it might be worth noting that kopete supports it with the jingle USE flag. I don't know if Gaim does yet or not though.

Interesting... why doesn't google acknowledge that in the support page?

Not that I know of. There are a few clients that have started to add jingle support, psi-jingle, kopete, tapioca, maybe some others.

Why is there so few apps that implemented jingle? None of them are very usable in my opinion. :x

I think you have to compile from source, as much as I seend it is not in portage.

Get the sources from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=166861.

I am compiling it now. :D
