|
|
hi,
i have been happily using mytharhive (0.20) to convert alot of my mythtv recordings to dvd format via mytharchive. it has worked flawlessly everytime.
i have a recording that is 6.3 gb in size, and so i thought id burn this to a dual layer dvd since my dvd burner supports dual layer (+ and - R)
anyhow, i have tried burning with both a -R and +R blank and i get the following output....the problem seems to lie with growisofs, but googling the error message hasnt got me very far:

it is worth noting this is the first time i have tried to burn a dual layer dvd via any program, so perhaps the problem lies elsewhere _________________ I might not have morals...but at least I have standards

it is worth noting this is the first time i have tried to burn a dual layer dvd via any program, so perhaps the problem lies elsewhere |
The wiki reports that dual-layer should be supported. The README says:
Quote: | 163 2. The script fails with "ERROR: Failed while running growisofs." message.
164 --------------------------------------------------------------------------
165
166 The most likely cause of the error is insufficient file permissions on the
167 cdrom device. Make sure the user that is running the script can both read
168 and write to the device that you use to burn DVDs.
169
170 How you do that is dependent on how your distribution sets things up. It may
171 be sufficient to add the user to the 'cdrom' group. You may also have to
172 relax the permissions on the device itself to allow the cdrom group
173 read/write access to it. |
Not sure what would be different permissions-wise between a single and dual layer burn though? Does it leave it's temp files behind. If so, have you tried running the command yourself to see if growisofs reports anything in particular? |

you know what Hobbes-X?
i'm an idiot! looks like i've mixed up my dvd burners on my main pc and my mythbox...
doing a
Code: |
#cdrecord dev=/dev/dvd -prcap
|
and looking at the output has just proven this.....so what i'll do instead is create an iso, then transfer it to my pc with the dl burner and do it from there
sorry for wasting your time! thanks _________________ I might not have morals...but at least I have standards |

Ha! No worries, I've done exactly the same thing right after I setup my remote frontend. I moved the DVD burner to the frontend and forgot all about it a week or two later... Of course, I didn't have an optical drive at all in the backend at that point, so the unmountable /dev entry made things a bit easier for me to find my mistake (That and the big empty hole in the case when I went down to test it ) |
