how do I start lockd?

hmm...

'grep lockd /etc/init.d/*' returns nothing. nfs-utils is installed. /sbin/rpc.lockd exists. what am I missing here?

kernel lockd is started by nfsd. rpc.lockd is the old userspace version and no longer needed.
