Hi, I am using Gentoo on a notebook with an pcmcia modem. I connect to the internet via kppp and use Konqueror as Browser.

When I type in an internet adress, it tooks quite a long time, before the download begins. And during the download, the connection-leds turn very often into red. At the moment, I have a dual boot WinXP System. When I use IE under XP, downloading is faster.

Some facts:
- In Kppp, modem speed is set to 115200, CR, CRTSCTS and timeout 60 sec.
- I have set the DNS entry manually.

What problem may my computer have?
