Hello,
I downloaded and installed KDE and it works fine. I tried to make it run on boot.
I edited
Code: | nano -w /etc/rc.conf |
and then i did:
Code: | rc-update add xdm default |
But it will still, boot on "Localserver" and ask my account password, and then i have to type "startx" myself.
What did i make wrong?[/code] |

Code: |
# What display manager do you use ? [ xdm | gdm | kdm | entrance ]
DISPLAYMANAGER="kdm" |
Code: |
# Gnome - will start gnome-session
# kde-<version> - will start startkde (ex: kde-3.0.2)
# Xsession - will start a terminal and a few other nice apps
XSESSION="kde-version" |

If you did all of this, then you need to post some error messages if you want more help.
You need to get into details. _________________ Do you hear the sound of inevitability?

Ok so i tried what you said, and the next time i rebooted my PC didnt start with "localhost" (which is a good thing) but instead it oppened with a green-grey ugly desktop, with an xterm console. I tried what the manual was saying (CTRL+D, or "exit" in xterm) but the only thing i was getting was to close the console. I could use "startkde" and open kde, but everything was green, and the toolbars, wallpaper, every window i opened, was in different windows of "twm" :S
What did i do wrong
And can you tell me how i can get rid of this "twm" i prefer to type every time "startx" instead of this |
