Upon bootup, I get this error message...

kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k nls_iso8859-1, errno = 2

This is the only error I get upon boot after a fresh install. I know I compiled nls_iso8859-1 support as a module into my kernel, and I double checked before posting. Any ideas on what this is and how to fix this?

Thanks,
Jason Bush

No, this is different than that. I have compiled the support into the kernel, and during boot I get this error, before all the green OKs and such. Almost like its a kernel error or something, not sure.

Very strange, and I haven't ever seen this before.

Any other ideas?

When the kernel needs something that is NOT compiled-in, kmod calls modprobe to load it as a module.
If this was compiled as a module, modprobe should be able to load it without errors.
I have had this happen to me when I was running a kernel that was not the last one I compiled.
Code:
# uname -a

Check the time and date ... it may surprise you.

Sounds like what I had in the link above. Have you checked the kernel for the suggested fix?

Just to whomever it may be of any interest: i get the kmod error when the kernel of the livecd boots... and i haven't had a single installation so far where i did not see this error. It does not appear to be harmful but it's just... interesting :) I wonder where this error comes from...

Might be worth filing a bug report for.

Moving to dups as the solution seems to be in the previously mentioned thread.
