yeah, i know it's like putting a tail fin on a Ford Tempo, but i was wondering if anyone has actually done this? setup Gentoo (portage and all that) up in Windows. i noticed this project using cygwin, but it's last update was 2 years ago and is in alpha (testing, i presume).

i like how the cygwin route looks, but qemu/VMware/etc might be easier

I take offense to that! I have a tail fin on my tempo! It helps keep my tail on the ground at breakneck speeds exceeding 45 MPH.

It may have been a joke, but pkgsrc supports SFU so it isn't that unreasonable to think that portage would.

Oh, is this a gentoo or a tempo discussion?
Anyways, vmware makes it possible either way: Gentoo running in Windows and Windows running under Gentoo (I've only seen the former done, actually). You do have to have a powerful computer to run 2 OS simultaneously (why not just dual boot for starters?) and you have to have at least a bit of knowledge to set it up and I think you have to pay for vmware (which, like most windows software, might or might not hold a problem for you).
