yes that sound strange...
the freebsd is a complete systeme and gentoo is modulable...
and you were asking if gentoo replace some base of bsd or of it's just a program used to install packages on top of bsd
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-freebsd.xml
there isn't the anser inside
but it is said that your install will look as gentoo:
Quote: | What is Gentoo/FreeBSD?
Gentoo/FreeBSD is an effort to provide a fully-capable FreeBSD operating system with Gentoo's design sensibilities. The long-term goal of the Gentoo/BSD project is to allow users to choose any combination of *BSD or Linux kernels, *BSD or GNU libc, and *BSD or GNU userland tools. |
be aware that it's an experimental (but usable) and non totaly finished project(need testing)
by the way you asked about fedora(or another classical linux distrib)
mabe try to compile portage and folow the guide existing in this forum that talk about porting portage to...windows(with unix environement such SFU or cygwin(colinux is totaly diferent and run as it was another computer...it doesn't has acces to windows files,system...)) https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-319691.html
and mabe ask about it to the people who have made a gentoo derived from the linux for pda that are debian based(don't remember if it's openEmbled or opie or GPE or another one) |
