Hello!

I have bought a new notebook a fuijitsy siemens Amilo PRO V2040 wich has a sata disk and when i tries too install gentoo and boot up with llivecd and when try to partition the disk i get the message that i only can read the information on the disk and not write the partition table. Can someone help me with this problem?

Can you descibe it more specified?
What commands have you used?

Have mounted the drive before trying with fdisk? Check with df.

Tell us exactly how you did when you tried!

It sounds like you are trying to partition the (readonly) Gentoo CD instead of the harddrive.

Do this to find out what device name to use for your harddrive (it is probably /dev/sda rather than /dev/hda).
