Hi together,

I want to install my Xeon EM64T dual machine with a standard x86-Kernel, just selecting pentium 4 / xeon for processor family. So I want the kernel to do 32 bit instead of using AMD64 and selecting x86-64 to do 64 bit.

Now my question:
Is it possible to use the march=nocona option in make.conf to compile 64 bit for my processor with this kernel.
Does this work. So 32 bit kernel and EM64T gcc march option. Does this work?

Anyone tried this? Does this speed up my system? The other choice would be march=pentium4.

Thanks a lot!
