hi, im new here, i was using Ubuntu for the last 2 weeks (no linux past before it)
im here because of a friend's suggestion, he said that gentoo is a good kernel.
now, i downloaded the mini cd and burned it.
when i boot up the cd, it works as a LiveCD instead of an installation CD

anyone knows why, or what do i have to type?

The gentoo installation cd is a livecd. I'd highly recommend looking at the gentoo handbook: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml

(This is easily accesssible from the gentoo homepage) It is a fantastic reference in that it has a lot of detail for beginners (I was able to follow it myself without a problem) but at the same time it allows for a lot of 'tweaking' if you are interested and have the experience for that sort of thing. It should be pretty self explanatory, but if you get stuck, then we, here at the forums, are always happy to help.

PS: If you aren't aware of what the difference is, and don't seriously care one way or the other, I'd highly recommend you follow a stage 3 installation. (you'll know what I mean when you get to that point in the handbook)
