Hey I've got a couple of Hyperthreaders at home I'd like to use to transcode my DVDs to xvid so I can play them on my Portable Media Player (It's a Creative Zen Vision, awesome!!! except it don't run on linux, and Archos doesn't have 640x480 screens, yet...).

Yes, I've found the -u switch to transcode multiple threads(or SMP), but is there a way to set some switches as default? Like -u, -y and others
I've looked for something like .transcoderc or transcode.conf, but I seem to end up empty handed. :(

I've already looked through the docs on http://www.transcode.org/, but I couldn't find anything.

Any help here would be hot! (Yes, I like Jar-Jar... Charbroiled  )
Cheers,

Will.

What you can do is setting an alias for that command, something like this:
Code:
alias mytranscode='transcode -u -y'

The problem is that you have to set the alias everytime you restart your computer, but you can put it in your local file (/etc/conf.d/local.start) to do this everytime the system is booted.

Is that a Creative Zen Vision or Vision:M. I believe that the :M had a firmware update that added universal mass storage support so it should work in linux. If its a Vision not :M im curious if you are able to mount it in linux. Thinking of buying one but not if I cant mount it. If i cant mount it then its useless.
