Hello,

I'm playing with installing Gentoo under WinXP, I have installed Colinux and have everything up and running, but I'm not sure I'm doing it the right way..

I start up the colinux Gentoo thread then open the SSH connection with my Cygwin Xserver as the X forward destination, I then have to launch the desktop with the following:

startxcfe4 &

I know startx doesn't work as I don't want the Xsever running on the gentoo thread, but is there a better way I can do this?
Can I get it to run a display manager automatically, or to lauch some applications on opening xfce?

I'm sure there is some config file or script that will let me do this but I can't find it!

Any help appreciated!

Usually you can simply run your xserver startup script which looks for $HOME/.xinitrc. This should contain something like
Code:
exec startxfce4

Maybe this works in a cygwin environment too.
