Where did I screw up?

edit: the password isn't the same as the system's root password, is that ok?

Did you set the password after installing mysql with

?

urgh :D Doing it now

edit: no go. mysqladmin prints the same error message as any other mysql command. Is there a way to reset the password, delete it?

Delete /var/lib/mysql/mysql and run
