ciao
ho già cercato sul forum riguardo all'argomento ma ho deciso cmq di chiedere a voi che magari sapete consigliarmi la strada migliore

ogni tanto mentre sto usando X il sistema si freeza e lo devo spegnete e far ripartire col tasto d'accensione.
questo lo fa in maniera random, senza che faccia qualcosa di particolare: ieri per esempio non me lo ha mai fatto, oggi invece 2 volte in 1 ora.
nei log non vedo nulla
ora faccio cmq un test della memoria, ma non credo proprio sia dovuto a quello.
sto usando un kernel 2.6.14-suspend2 ma me lo faceva anche con un 2.6.14 gentoo-sources e anche con un 2.6.15 sempre gentoo-sources.
sto usando ati-drivers-8.14.13-r3
xorg versione 6.8.2-r6
gcc-3.4.4-r1
l'altra cosa che devo segnalare è il solito problema con modules-update che non riesco a risolvere: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-422907.html

leggendo tra i vari topic del forum qualcuno dice di provare a ricompilare X

Secondo me è un problema HW, se è effettivamente a random. A volte può succedere anche che vegano lanciati dei servizi o demoni (perchè in scheduling o chiamati da altri processi) senza che tu te ne accorga, e che potrebbero essere la causa del tuo problema.

se lo uso da shell, emergo, compilo, ec... non ho mai nessun problema

qui pezzi di /var/log/messagges quando il sistema si piantava.
edit: nn credo sia quell'ultimo errore che da problemi, in quanto vedo troppa differenza di orario tra il freeze e il riavvio che è sempre avvenuto subito dopo l'arresto del sistema

ora però è in esecuzione senza X e funziona perfettamente; vedo nel log:

deve essere un problema di acpi e + specificatamente del modulo della batteria o di qualche cosa d'altro che ha a che fare con la batteria e che freeza
sto provando con apm e funziona tutto perfettamente
indicazioni per poter usare cmq acpi senza questo inconveniente?
