Looks like the ati 8.20.0 drivers are in the portage tree..

Fixes:
Quote:
# Attempting to resume from system suspension no longer results in the system failing to respond.
# Kernel module compile issues with the stock 2.6.13 and 2.6.14 kernel are now resolved

The driver installed fine, but the ati-drivers-extra failed on compile:

Code:
jakerlaptop jaker # emerge ati-drivers-extra

ati-drivers-extra never failed before, so this is new to me.

Update:

Code:
USE="-qt" emerge ati-drivers-extra

Removing the one use flag works, so I guess do that if you really need it installed. Still, I wonder why it doesn't work otherwise...

Add the ~x86 to your package.keywords..

Code:
cat /etc/portage/package.keywords
# Unnecessary packages ingored

# ATi Radeon Drivers
x11-drivers/ati-drivers ~x86
x11-apps/ati-drivers-extra ~x86
app-admin/eselect ~x86
app-admin/eselect-opengl ~x86

It's possible that your package.mask file is still pointing to the old location to the drivers (media-video instead of x11-drivers)

Hmm why especially?

Becuase in my opinion the error should not happen... so why is the useflag not deactivated for standard?
