|
|
I upgraded my Apache and now find that a virtual host's FrontPage brand forms do not work; I receive a generic error message:
Quote: | Cannot run the FrontPage Server Extensions on this page: "http://www.[myvirtualdomain].com/top_form.htm" |
I'm running the current Gentoo stable package of Apache, 2.0.54-r31. I downloaded the current RH Linux FrontPage package ("Intel x86 Linux 8.0, 9.0 (Red Hat Software) SR1.2" : fp50.linux.tar.gz) from Ready-To-Run Software. After following the helpful tutorials on the Gentoo Forum, I have the FrontPage administrator running, I added the "we80.cnf" under /usr/local/frontpage, I republished a virtual domain, I ensured that the LoadModule for FrontPage occurs as the last loaded item., I did everything I can think of to get the forms to work. Everything seems to be working except that forms are broken, meaning when a user click's a "Submit" button on an HTML form created by FrontPage, the information is not processed nor is the user directed to the designated results page; instead the above error message is returned.
I also tried a similar example posted on Microsoft's site (http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;320872&spid=2514&sid=129) -- having the form at the top level of the virtual domain and then placing the results file under the top level's _private directory. Using Microsoft's suggestion did not cause the form to be processed; I had the same result.
I've scoured RTR's forum using as a search criterion "Cannot run the FrontPage Server Extensions on this page" and have learned that this error message is broad coverage error message encompassing several problems.
My installation is an upgrade where previous stable packages of Apache where Frontpage forms worked.
Could someone advise whether they are successful or unsuccessful in making FrontPage forms work under Apache 2.0.54-r31. If I knew of an instance where they are working, it would be encouraging.
I realize I could use a cgi script, but using the FrontPage forms is very convenient and makes deployment a breeze. |

What good luck, I "emerged --update" and Apache was on the list and installed version 2.0.55. Now the forms work. |
