I have installed Gentoo 2005.1 and I have a problem each 4-5 computer reboots :
Gentoo boot normally until it tries to start agetty : agetty respawning too fast, disabled for 5 minutes. Then I have to do a hard reboot because I can do nothing. When gentoo reboot, I have a kernel panic which says something like "not syncing VFS". I reboot another time and it start normally but find errors on the file systems. When errors are corrected, I reboot and all is OK. From there, I can shutdown and reboot my system normally for 4-5 times before the problem restart again.
I hope someone can help me, else I have to change for another linux distrib. I don't think that is a hard drive problem.
I use the kernel 2.6.14-r2, and my fstab looks like this (I don't have a /boot partition since I already have 8 partitions):
