howdy people.
I'm trying to install Gentoo AMD64 on my ASRock Dual SATA motherboard with an Opteron 146. It boots just fine, everything is detected but it doesnt accept DHCP. I have one standard realtek 8139 network card that is detected as well as an onboard controller which is also detected.
What's even more strange is that my laptop is runnig gentoo and that gentoo installation accepts DHCP offers without any problems at all... so anyone got a clue ?
Update
As I thought my ISP had some sort of MAC adress cachin in their Cable modems and as we had already "used" four unique MAC adresses to get IP's it wouldn't allow any more. Unplugging the modem did reset the cache and I'm currently building things on my AMD64 Machine.
Thanks to all the people who helped out =)
Cheers Lowe

Extintor,
As you have eth0 and eth1, only eth0 will be used by the installer automatically.
Which Ethernet device is eth0 depends on the startup order. In turn, this is normally the module load order and is fixed for any individual kernel build.
eth0 is the interface whos kernel driver appears closest to the bottom of lsmod.
Its probably faster to plug the network cable into the other adaptor and see what happens.
Also test with the net-setup command. _________________ Regards,

Neddy:
I've tried just entering dhcpcd eth0 and eth1 (two times after eachother just to be sure). net-setup for both of the ethernet adapters.
Though now someone at the irc channel suggested i do a stage3 installation from the cd and try from a working enviroment. I'll se what i can do =) _________________ Beerhazard | Nobelium | VIm | Perl | Ruby |

Extintor,
Post your A stage 3 install will not solve you problem.
Does the liveCD set up networking automatically, with no help from you ? _________________ Regards,

For what it's worth, we have the same board and I skipped the network here.
Edited make.conf to point to portage on another drive,
updated the /etc/make.profile symlink and we are up and running |

It tries do, but it doesnt help. Im gonna try and call my ISP and check if they have problems with their servers. Mainly because my gf's laptop didn't work either so it could be (and probably is) a problem at the ISP. I've recently moved to this apartment so this is definetly a possibility.
Thanks to you all for your time and i will check back when I've resolved this.
