Hi,
I would like to install vi and xfree.
Could some one help me ?
I suppose the right way is emerge vi ; emerge xfree isn't it ?

that is correct. there is some configuration needed for XFree86 after the install though. I would recommend reading and/or printing out the desktop install guide as well.

You might want to try the graphical alternatives of vi: gvim or kvim as well. User emerge -p gvim to see the dependencies.
Also, don't forget to change the default editor to vi or vim. |
