|
|
ok got Mythtv to the point where i can watch tv (still figuring out how to change channel without remote) but i can't get it to save show recording settings. i go through the options for setting up a show to record (record at any time on this channel should catch all instances of the show right?) and i select save but i have no upcoming recordings listed
Help.. i'm sooo close |

Is mythbackend running?
Make doubly sure by not starting it with the init script, but manually.

I believe so... i fixed it so it wasn't dying out (had to fix permissions on the store directory i created and i do get stuff in system info (was getting can not connect to backend before)... but i will try it manually.. if not are there any other suggestions? btw.. i noticed there was no mythtv user created do i have to do that myself and if so what permissions/groups does it need? |

checked earlier this evening and the backend was running... stopped backend and made sure it was no longer running then brought it back up with no error (it was in process list). It still won't let me save recording schedules... i'm going to start from scratch with it again and go by whatever instructions are on the Mythtv site this time.. i feel the lack of a mythtv user and possible other missed steps in the HowTo are the cause. |

Well the only users you need are for MySQL, not actual system users. mythbackend can run as any user you want, provided they have rw access to the directories you're storing your recordings in. _________________ If it ain't broke, tweak it. dvds | blurays | blog | wiki |
