i ran fdisk /dev/hdb and listed the partition table and got this :
disk /dev/hdb: 120.0 GB, 120060444672 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 14596 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
device boot start end blocks id system
/dev/hdb 1 14596 117242338+ 83 Linux
after i saw this i ran gparted again and checked /dev/hdb, it says i only have a 111.81 gb drive, any good idea why so? |

When they advertise the size of the hard drive, 1gb=1000mb. For the OS however, 1gb=1024mb.
This is perfectly normal. _________________ Stand With Mittens |

To elaborate using your fdisk byte count...
120060444672 * 1K/1024
=117246528K * 1M/1024K
=114498.5625M * 1G/1024M
=111.81500244140625G
~=111.8G |
