In-Kernel it doesnt compile and emerging ieee80211 and ipw2100 results in modprobe freezing forever, dmesg spilling out "cannot start the card" repeatingly.

Have read the wiki and all the threads about ipw2100.

Is this crap working for anyone ????

does it stop your kernel from compiling?

use the in-kernel driver, but load it as a module soon after bootup (as opposed to building it directly into the kernel)

The kernel-compile fails in both cases, having ipw2100 built-in and making it (and ieee80211) a module.

Alot of stuff about "dereferencing pointer to incomplete type" and "initialization makes pointer from integer without a cast" all regarding ipw2100.c

after 2 very frustrating days i gave up.
Later i put the card into my other Thinkpad, a 240, where to my suprise it worked out of the box.
I now updated the BIOS on my X21 and now it also works here :-)
