|
|
I have upgraded cedega from 4.4.1 to the newest version available.
I did this by emerging cedega, and having to move the file cedega-small-5.0.1.tgz to /usr/portage/distfiles.
The install went fine...
When I try and run anything which worked fine on 4.4.1 I get the messages:
(if i try and run dawn of war)
Code: | cedega W40k.exe
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/lib/transgaming_cedega/Point2Play_gui.py", line 2583, in ?
config_file_to_use = str("cedega_" + Point2Play_ref.default_winex)
TypeError: cannot concatenate 'str' and 'NoneType' objects

or if I run cedega on its own:
Code: | cedega

I have not messed with the config out of the box as of yet.

cedega 5.x is different from cedega 4.x
Cedega 5.x no longer supports running apps from the cmd (at least not the same way)
It also requires you to install an engine separately and some other things... I suggest you read a howto

ahh ok.
That probably explains a few things. I got portage to do all the work for me, but I dont think it installed the main cedega-5.0.1.tgz file. Looks like a fresh install of it _________________ It said "Requires Windows XP or better"

no you need to install the engine by hand.. when you have the portage part of cedega installed just run it and a setup-wizard will take you through the rest of the process _________________ It's all about open source |

There is an update option in the application itself, which i assume lets you download the engine and update it.
At the moment, i can see the games in the application, but it comes up with an error:
Quote: | Can't get cedega configuration. Maybe its corrupt? |
I assume this is because the engine has not been installed. _________________ It said "Requires Windows XP or better"

Ok, finally managed to install the game engine ok - along with some microsoft fonts and a plugin for mozilla.
I am still getting the same issue where it thinks the configuration is corrupt.

hm maybe you should clear up all of your cedega 4.X settings...
rm -r ~/.transgaming* should do it...
you'll have to reconfigure everything again but at least it should work
There is a howto about importing your old configs if you really need them... look for it at transgaming.org _________________ It's all about open source |

all done and sorted.
I ran it as root, and seemed to work ok, so renamed my old dir,and just copied the games and config files over and it worked ok. Weird
all i need to do now is get sof2 working - but ill post another topic for that _________________ It said "Requires Windows XP or better"
