|
|
Ok I heard that the 2.5 kernel improves X and Gnome2.2 performance and is over all faster and better ... ... How do I exactly upgrade my kernel to 2.5 while keeping all the modules that I have in my current kernel and all the configurations...? Ie. what do I emerge and how do I recompile so that my current config stays the same. (note this is for a PPC laptop, PB G3 Pismo.)
Also if anyone here wants to stop me from upgrading because of a bad experience, please tell me. And another thing when can we expect 4.6?
Also could someone tell me how to optimize my make.conf and what lines you guys have, I have a PowerBook G3 Pismo. _________________ PowerBook G3, 400 Mhz, 192 megs of Ram Running Gentoo 1.4 and XFCE4 |

Hi Scorp,
I am another Pismo fan. Have you found a 2.5 ppc kernel? I didn't think they had one out for the ppc yet. Can you point me to the local.... thanks.
(I'm hopeful that 2.5 has pre-emptive multi-tasking etc ... anything to get multimedia performance up on a 400Mhz pismo ) _________________ --

there are kernels, but how functional they are is another story.
I was trying 2.5 stuffs on ppc tonight, I finally got one compiled and botting my machine, which then proceeds to segfault when starting devfsd funscript.sh, and almost any other executable script or application.
Long story short, it's not worth it yet |
