I have a gentoo based firewall and every once in a while (seems like once every couple weeks) the internal side of my firewall will stop working. None of the machines behind the firewall can get out, but the firewall itself has internet access fine. The internal nic is a Hawking Technologies USB HUF11. In order to fix it, I have to take my internal interface down, unplug the NIC, plug it back in and then bring the internal interface back up. I don't want to have to keep doing this and it's rather annoying because it kills the ability to SSH into the firewall because the internal side is failing. What could be the cause of this? What would be the solution?
I can't find any problems listed in logs like dmesg, kern.log, and messages. |
