|

Hello all,
I have 2 laptop machines, a Toshiba x86 and a Powerbook G4. I was wondering if I can transfer my home directory from my Toshiba directly to the powerbook or if there will be compatibility issue.
The toshiba is running gentoo, and the powerbook will be running in the next 3 weeks or so...
Anyone has done it, or is there a problem with doing that? |

Unless you have programs installed in your home that were built for x86 you will have no problems in transfering your home.
The best way is probably to do a tar of the home in the x86 box and then unpacking it on the ppc. And probably fixing the ownership of the files. _________________ Gustavo Felisberto

It's most certainly GNU/Linux, not Linux. Read more at

Tx,
Nope, no programs in my home directory. I've done this often between my laptop and my home machine as I use my home machine as backup.
My concern was with integer order (big endian vs. small endian) in binary data.
So I will give it a try over my vacations and post the result here in case anyone else wonder...
