hi,
i just reinstalled gentoo from scratch - now i have the following problem when trying to merge vim:

Quote:

# emerge vim
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 2) app-editors/vim-core-6.1-r4 to /
>>> md5 ;-) vim-6.1.tar.bz2
>>> md5 ;-) vim-6.1-patches-001-300.tar.bz2
>>> md5 ;-) vim-6.1-gentoo-patches.tar.bz2
>>> md5 ;-) vim-6.1-lang.tar.gz
>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Unpacking vim-6.1.tar.bz2 to /var/tmp/portage/vim-core-6.1-r4/work
>>> Unpacking vim-6.1-patches-001-300.tar.bz2 to /var/tmp/portage/vim-core-6.1-r4/work
>>> Unpacking vim-6.1-gentoo-patches.tar.bz2 to /var/tmp/portage/vim-core-6.1-r4/work
>>> Unpacking vim-6.1-lang.tar.gz to /var/tmp/portage/vim-core-6.1-r4/work
* Removing superfluous patches...... [ ok ]

!!! ERROR: app-editors/vim-core-6.1-r4 failed.
!!! Function epatch, Line 321, Exitcode 0
!!! Failed Patch: vim-gtk2-20030312.patch!

the log says: "no file to patch" with every patch-entry...

i also tried to set -gtk and -gtk2 in USE... but doesn't matter like emerge -vp vim vim-core shows...
any suggestions ? can i prevent emerge trying to install the patch ?

This was the VERY first package I tried to emerge on my first gentoo setup... Unfortunately I get the same errors as above? I am guessing it isn't my setup but a "ebuild" problem? :cry:

Why would GTK2 be needed for VIM??? Wouldn't it be needed on GVIM but not VIM :?:
