hi all!

i tried to install anonymous web-surfing with prixoy and tor like described here: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-269815-highlight-privoxy+hostname.html

i added the listen adress to my local network in the privoxy conf:
listen-address 192.168.0.1:8118

but it soooooo slow cause i alwasy get this error on every "item" i receive from the web:
Dec 17 20:53:41 Privoxy(16384) Error: Unable to get my own hostname: Success

i figured out that the problem is the name resolution. but i have an entry in my /etc/hosts for the 192.168.0.1:
192.160.0.1 area52.restricted-area.de area52

area52 is the hostname in /etc/hostname
and restricted-area.de the domainname in /etc/dnsdomainname

what am i doing wrong?? how am i able to get rid of this message???

thx 4 your help in advance

greets
snIP3r

Does /var/log/privoxy have anything of value? Also, you might also try adding 127.0.0.1 also as that is the default local host. It appears to be a name resolution problem, but appearances can be deceiving. You also have to restart privoxy after making changes.
