Posted: Sun Dec 18, 2005 9:58 am Post subject: [SOLVED] gnome 2.12 - problem during emerge |
|
|
I tried to
Code: |
emerge =gnome-base/gnome-2.12.1
|
It announced around 40 masked dependencies,
so I unmasked them in
/etc/portage/package.keywords
and re-launched
Code: |
emerge =gnome-base/gnome-2.12.1
|
Some parts of gnome were installed successfully,
however, when
gnome-base/gnome-desktop-2.12.2
was being compiled, I got this message:
Quote: | checking for i386-pc-linux-gnu-pkg-config... (cached) /usr/bin/pkg-config
checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes
checking for GNOME_DESKTOP... configure: error: Package requirements (gdk-pixbuf-2.0 >= 2.4.0 gtk+-2.0 >= 2.4.0 glib-2.0 >= 2.8.0 libgnomeui-2.0 >= 2.6.0 gnome-vfs-2.0 >= 2.0.0 libstartup-notification-1.0) were not met.
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively you may set the GNOME_DESKTOP_CFLAGS and GNOME_DESKTOP_LIBS environment variables
to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for
more details.

This is a part of the log file i consider to be relevant:

Is there a mistake in the portage tree?
Should I manually emerge glib-2.8.0 ???
Thanks. _________________ Since he could no longer be of any use to me,I left him there on the stones without much regret and whistled down a few vultures which settled down on him in order to guard him. (Kafka)

OK,
I emerged new glib and suddenly, the emerge goes fine...
but shouldn't portage take care of it? _________________ Since he could no longer be of any use to me,I left him there on the stones without much regret and whistled down a few vultures which settled down on him in order to guard him. (Kafka) |
