Ok, I installed gnome and mozill after i finished installing gentoo, and now they are both giving me problems.
When I run mozilla it exits without any errors whenever I got to surtain websites, and randomly on others. So I tried `mozilla -verbose` to see if it would give me some info and when ever I go to www.iamnotageek.com I get this error
Xlib: extension "RENDER" missing on display ":1.0".
Gdk-ERROR **: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
serial 12785 error_code 2 request_code 53 minor_code 0
Gdk-ERROR **: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)
serial 12786 error_code 9 request_code 55 minor_code 0
Also whenever I try to run gnome-terminal I get this error
Xlib: extension "RENDER" missing on display ":1.0".
The program 'gnome-terminal' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
(Details: serial 574 error_code 11 request_code 53 minor_code 0)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
I searched the forums and the only thing I found relating to my problem was the random crashing of mozilla, and they said to fix it make sure all fonts have r permisions for all users, and then run fc-cache. However this did not fix it.
As for the gnome-terminal problem, I could not find anything relating to it.
Other gnome programs work, since I have been able to run most of the included programs (ie, games, and system monitor), and pan (gnome based newsreader), so i don't know what the problem is. |

If you find an answer to that please let me know. I have been having the same problems. As well as when I launch Galeon it opens an infinate number of windows until I kill it. I dunno if I need to change my use flags or what but I have gtk and -gtk2 for mozilla and galeon both. |

I had the exact same problem with both gnome-terminal and mozilla. However, phoenix worked just fine.
I emerged XFree 4.3.0 and now it seems to work. I've only tried gnome-terminal so far (still compiling Mozilla).
Someone told me to check if I had
in my XF86Config file, which I never did since I was emerging to 4.3.0 and it works now so I couldn't see if it fixed the problem. |
