I am looking for an app that allows me to create Kodak Photo CD's under Linux. Googling around did not help - since it is a proprietary format, I guess that there's no open source project.

I'm pretty sure the option to create Kodak Photo CD's has been removed from even Nero in Windows, so I doubt there's an OSS app that can do it. I'm prepared to be wrong though...

Not sure about PhotoCD format.. but as for PictureCD format, pretty sure this works.. athough this may not work.. going off of memory alone (so use an RW if possible to begin with;)), but it should be as simple as this:

a) Go ahead and do a batch rename to change all extensions from .jpg to .JPEG.
b) Create a sub-directory on the disc titled PICTURES (case is important)
c) Dump your photos into this directory.. obviously :)
d) Burn as ISO-9660

This should be enough to at least get the Kodak kiosks to read your pictures.. although you will want to burn a regular CD-R just to be safe if that is your intent as I am unsure if the kiosks can even read RW.

Hey, that works!

Thanks, that's what I needed. However, some kiosks do even recognize *.jpg, but anyways, it seems as if you need to fiddle the formats and resolutions as well. Some of my pics, all the originals in fact, are recognized while some of those I edited with the Gimp do not appear in the selection. But this is just a matter of time (and perhaps a few googlings)!

Thanks a lot!
