hi, im having a problem with my Hp Officejet 7200. I have it networked and im trying to get it to print.
i have followed all the instructions at this gentoo wiki: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HPLIP
and everything as far as hplip is concerned is working...
these are the commands and the output that i have received from hplip:
Code: | gen2box hplip # ./probe -bnet
HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 0.9.7)

Device URI Model Name
----------------------------------------- ------------------------ --------
hp:/net/Officejet_7200_series?ip=<ipremoved> HP Officejet_7200_series HPAB56AD
gen2box hplip # hp-makeuri <ipremoved>

./probe -bnet is able to find my printer and give me my uri. so as per the instructions i go to my cups server http://localhost:631
i log in as root... and then add a printer...
i type the name then press continue... but when i scroll down in my device section instead of seeing hp:/net/Officejet_7200_series?ip=<ipremoved> i see "hp no device found"
so i select that... but then after that there is no way to change it to the correct thing...
so i try the other method suggested in the troubleshooting section...
Code: | gen2box hplip # ./makeuri <ipremoved>

Device URI Creation Utility ver. 2.5

i then restar the cups server and go back to the add printer page, this time i "'AppSocket/HP Jet Direct' as the Device. In the 'Device URI' field, type in (or better yet, paste, as it's long) the URI ./makeuri returned. Continue as normal." ...................................................
WELL.... GREAT NEWS!!!! I got it to work... While i was typing this post.... i decided to stop cups and stop hplip, i then started hplip, did all of the commands ie."./check; ./probe -bnet, etc" i then started cups, and i wnt to the webpage... i had to do the troubleshooting option and add "'AppSocket/HP Jet Direct' as the Device. In the 'Device URI' field, type in (or better yet, paste, as it's long) the URI ./makeuri returned. Continue as normal." and instead of giving me the "client-error" message it added it!!!!!!! and i can print to it and it works fine.... so ill just post this tread incase anyone else has had my same problem and has not tried what i just did! |
