I have a combo compactflash/smartmedia flash card reader. The device works great using the usb-storage driver. However, it seems to have one quirk.
Currently, I have the usb-storage module set to auto-insert on boot. If a card is not in a slot on boot though, a device does not get created under /dev/sd*. In order to use and mount the card, I must su to root and 'modprobe -r usb-storage && modprobe usb-storage'. After this the partitions for whatever cards are there show up. How can I get it so I don't have to go through the superuser stage?
I have a feeling I made need to mess with the hotswap stuff, but don't know where to start. Pointers and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |
