Hey all,
I'm at my parents' and they have a Netgear WTG624 wireless router (as the topic suggests). Now usually, it behaves fine. There are no problems to speak of, ever...except when I come to visit.
When I'm running Gentoo, I find that the init-script will connect (I'm using wpa_supplicant and madwifi drivers). It will dhcp fine, and then every few minutes the connection will completely drop, and wpa_supplicant will have to find the network again and re-dhcp, which it does automatically. It takes about 30 seconds, which is enough to disconnect any messengers, etc. This simply will not do.
I think it has something to do with network usage, as when I'm not doing much on the network it doesn't seem to be affected (I watch the gkrellm wifimonitor plugin to see when it valleys to 0% strength). It seems that the other computers on wireless are also affected by this, but only when my computer is on the network. It also doesn't happen if my computer is running windows.
So... has anybody seen this before, or any idea what's going on? I can post any log output that would be helpful.
