|
|
Hi all,
I cannot get a blank CD today, but do have an old 2005.0 CD already burnt. I want to start the install process on a new T42 laptop.
Is it possible to install using this CD as a starter, but get most of the stuff i need over the net? And if so, can someone please tell me what kind of install docs to follow and point out any potential problems?
Many thanks! |

You have 597 posts and you're asking this?
Just follow the gentoo handbook and everything will work. The only difference with the newer cd is that the packages are updated (I think). _________________ "I saw the code for your computer program yesterday. It looked easy. Its just a bunch of typing. Well im asking specifically becuase the profile would be different right?
Postcount counts for nothing, i've been helped in here by people with single digit posts counts and 4 digit, it makes no difference.
Thanks guys. |

You'd only get the old profile if you used the stage tarball from the old CD.
Boot from the old CD, download the newest stage tarball from the net, unpack, and you've got the new profile. |
