After a recent update of my x 86 server which use to be rock soild. Many problems have to be repaired. The biggest one I have right now besides my php is cups.

The printer is attached to my server and configured to allow all connection from my lan. Up until the update it worked flawlessly. I have checked all configs and restarted cupsd several times. I can print test pages all day long from any computer on the lan including the server. As soon as I try to print a file or document from any place it is promptly aborted. I go into the cups admin section and attempt to restart the aborted job and all I get is a client-error/not possible cryptic message. The logs tell me even less, ie... PID 12235 stopped with status 0 A bunch of these. All jobs listed as started and by who from where, but all end with that message.

TIA

You might want to try turning up the logging level. Here's the doc that describes how to do that:

http://cups.org/articles.php?L198+I0+TFAQ+P1+Q

Are you using IPP or SAMBA to set up printing on the LAN? Make sure that each user on each computer has access to print (it could be you're printing test pages as root, but printing everything else as a non-root user).

I am using cups/ipp as I have no need for samba that I am aware of. I did up the log-level and debugging to see what else might turn up. So far nothing difinative has appeared. It may be I am setting it up incorrectly, however I have been following the gentoo-printing guide. The strange thing is yesterday it was working just fine then for no reason it just quit printing anything but test pages.

Doing this all form gnome2.12 desktop panels.

Open printing from any workstation.
Printer is detected and marked as ready.
Select print test page from any workstation. Test page is sent to the printer located on the Server on lp0 and the test page is properly printed.

From the cups port 631 http panel form any workstation and the server I can configure the printer and print test pages perfectly.

But I can not print any job from any place on the lan including the Server. All jobs are simply aborted. No log errors point to any real identifiable problems.

I am starting to think this may be a driver or lib issue as I am using jap drivers (installed and configured by me) for this printer. It is a Canoni860 printer and up until now has work perfectly.

I am open to all ideas any one may have

I absoultly have to have printing capabilities to the sever from the lan.

TIA
