Has anyone manged to get Lirc .0.7.2 and the 2.6.13-r5 kernel working with a homebrew reciever? if so, how the hell did you pull it off? I've been searching the forums for a few days and have yet to find anything, I have so far gotten the kernel modules to load, but the reciever doesn't seem to pick up anything, it works with winlirc.

Thanks in advance
Cae

well what kind of homebrew is it? serial or usb? ... what kind of chip is on it?
does dmesg show it when you run modprobe lirc?

i got a JetEye-pc working with lirc_sir.

BTW i compiled my own lirc cause i wasn't sure of what to pass portage, and didn't care to look since it worked.

No one has a working homebrew serial reciever working on a 2.6 kernel?

I had my homebrew receiver working under 2.6 prior to 2.6.14 without any problems. Then my hard drive crashed and I can no longer get it to work. Are you getting any errors from anything or does the reciever just not pick anything up?

Jon

Woah, hey, I don't get anything to come up when the reciever is connected.

I pretty much gave up on anyone finding this thread, it seems to be a general problem that no one has a homebrew reviever working, I am running a 2.6.13-(r6?) kernel on my HTPC and I can't get any sort of output from having the lirc circuit connected

If you search you'll find a thread with an 0.8pre2.ebuild, I took this and adaptet it to 0.8pre3 (you've got to search the cvs-snapshot.... rename and put it into /usr/portage/distfiles) and with 0.8pre3 it works even with 2.6.15.

I have lirc running under 2.6.14-r5 with a homebrew reciever. It took a little work and configuration changes to get it to work. Some of what I did is documented in this thread: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-421663-highlight-.html
