Hi there!
I have done a lot of homework on getting chinese filenames to be read in KDE but to no avail
I have emerged the chinese font packages and my Firefox 1.5 is able to display chinese webpages without a glitch. Even the titlebar of Firefox is able to display chinese characters when I visit chinese webpages that use chinese titles.
However, I would like to read my MP3 files named in chinese. I have no issues reading them in Windows XP (NTFS). These MP3s are currently stored on my NTFS partition which I am trying to read them in KDE (Konqueror). When I try to list a directory with Konqueror, the filenames in chinese are missing (filtered away?).
Also, I could not read the chinese filenames even before going into X.org. The filenames in the console would appear with a pair of hexadecimal enclosed in "<" and ">". However, this is not important as I would only need to read them inside X.org.
I do not need chinese input.
Can anyone please kindly outline the steps needed to get a Gentoo Linux system (in particular, KDE) to read chinese filenames? Thank you! _________________ (~ cci[RR]us ~)

There is an io character stream option(iocharset=utf8) for mouting vfat(fat32) and ntfs, May you found this page(in Chinese) gives a hand on the Chinese Desktop Environment setup:

Wow thanks! It worked!
The use of "iocharset" is a must; I tried nls=utf8 and it didn't work. _________________ (~ cci[RR]us ~)
