What lvextend is trying to do is "suspend" the volume /dev/vg/log. It has to suspend all activity to the volume in order to create a stable environment for the extend. During a suspend, all processes that read/write to the volume will be blocked (put to sleep) until the suspend is lifted by lvextend. There must be a process that is using this volume that is not too keen about being told to block on read/write. You may need to stop the process that is utilizing this volume whilst you do the extend. The lsof command does a fabulous job in finding which files are in use (that is if you don't already know). |
