there seems to be somethign wrong with my eth0 configuration. FOr some reason my internet keeps on crappin out on gento, but when i check a windows box that is attached to ym wireless network (gentoo box is wired), everythign seems to work perfectly fine, but gentoo is still crappin out. Anyone got any idea what the problem might be?? I dont een know how to work with network stuff cause i have never had to do anythign with it under linux before cause it has always run perfectly fine (except ndiswrapper when i was running it wireless) |

Since you connect the one to a wired interfae, and use the other without, there's nothing to compare those, nor any reason to say they should both work.
Check the cable, the link speed and mode, and if possible, try another system with a wire. _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /

thsi system duel boots to windows as well, and the winodws partition doesnt ave any problem. Even when i turn the wireless access point off and wire my entire network everythign works fine except for gentoo. I am getting connection problems left and right, web pages wont load or take forever, but i can browse smoothly on a connected laptop, a whole other computer, AND a windows partition on this computer. In a few hours this will be the computer computer on the network anyway, i will try connecting directly to the internet and see if that helps. I suppose it could be my router (although that seems unlikely because every other computer works fine). I guess it could jsut be coincidence and my ISP is being tarded at specific times, which they have been known to do.. |

I assume you tried the basics of capturing *several* pings to websites like yahoo. Look for dropped packets. It might even show if you are having dns issues. Also check to see if you get good pings to the wireless windows box on your lan. Traceroutes might help show where the packets die. |

i have come to realize that it is only happening when multiple applications ask for internet access. But i cant see any reason why only one application can have access to the resources at any given time. Is there a work around for this??? |

try using mii-tool. I'm curious as to what speed and duplex your card is running. |
