i find a solution.
# USE="mmx" emerge avidemux
But I don't see a reason why i should use mmx on my p4. I think ebuild is wrong or something.

I'm in the process of getting rid of arts I was performing an emerge --newuse world when this came up.

I have the same problem as infecticide but instead of line 80 line 81. The problem is that I can't remerge the installed version of avidemux so it seems to have something to do with other packets. Maybe ffmpeg or something like that.

I ended up solving it by doing a USE="-aac +mad"

It doesn't work for me :(. The same error still appears. In past I could compile avidemux with aac, mad and mmx without problems. It have to be a lib problem I think.

Could you try manually with the 2.0.38 ( http://developer.berlios.de/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1402 ) ?

I've gote the same problems with avidemux and with cinelerra-cvs
about mmx I guess it was a bug, because the the next version compiled successfully
IMHO, packages like these are very fragile about CFLAGS and USE...

also some versions of transcode and ffmpeg failed with mmx flag on.

getting some insane error in building the new version.

sdl is installed correctly v1.2.8 so I've no idea why this is happening.

I'm getting the exact same error on 2.0.40, also using libsdl 1.2.8 (r1), in the config.log all that it says:

Assgier, I'm getting the same problem when I try to emerge globulation, an SDL game. You aren't alone. But I have no idea what to do about it. I ran across your post searching for the same answers you are.

I've tried v1.2.9-r1 and got the same error. :(

Try to re-emerge media-libs/libmp4v2. I had the same error and then I tried to emerge avidemux wihtout the "sdl" USE flag and I got the following error.

Code:
libtool: link: cannot find the library `/usr/lib/libmp4v2.la'
make[3]: *** [avidemux2] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/avidemux-2.1_pre1/work/avidemux_2.1_step1/avidemux'

make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/avidemux-2.1_pre1/work/avidemux_2.1_step1'
make: *** [all] Error 2

!!! ERROR: media-video/avidemux-2.1_pre1 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 101, Exitcode 2
!!! emake failed

So I re-emerged media-libs/libmp4v2 and then avidemux merged just fine with "sdl" use flag.
