I am a brand-new newbie at Gentoo and did a complete install yesterday only to end up at a dead end when the network failed to autoconfigure dhcp. After many forum searches I thought I had this error with bash 3.1 but it turns out I don't have bash 3.1. A 'bash --version' gets me 3.00.16(1)-release. I couldn't emerge =bash-3.0-r14 like the above-mentioned thread said. I booted with the Live CD and chrooted in, but I get an error that that package has been masked. Do I need to change my bash version or is there something else I need to do to get my Gentoo networking?

Update: before posting I did an emerge dhcpcd and rebooted. Tadaa! It works. I will post this anyway in case anyone else has the same problem.
