!!! all the ebuilds that could satisfy "arcload" have been masked
one of the following masked packages is required to complete your request
sys-boot/arcload-43-rc1 (masked by: mips keyword)
sys-boot/arcload-41 (masked by: mips keyword)
i'm running though the guide on the mips install onto a sgi-o2
i'm getting this error when i try to run
emerge arcload dvhtool
does anyone have any ideas on how i can get passed this?
many thanks
mattm

Follow that link and search for the "Masked Packages" section. It doesn't matter that it's the installation guide for x86 just replace the the keyword for your specific architecture:
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/2005.1/handbook-x86.xml?full=1
But actually, this should be somewhere in the FAQ section of these forums, so look there first if you have a question. |

What does emerge info say? This is what I get on my IP28 (in my o32 chroot, hence I'm using the standard mips64 profile, rather than the ip28 one. I cross compile kernels on another box.)
Code: | indigo / # emerge info
Portage 2.0.51.19 (default-linux/mips/mips64/2005.0, gcc-3.4.3, glibc-2.3.4.20050125-r1, 2.6.14.4-mipsgit-20051030-ip28 mips64)

From what I can tell, arcload is keyworded mips (a stable package, as opposed to ~mips, which denotes an experimental package), so it should JustWork(tm).
Code: | (06:01) www filemgmt # ls /usr/portage/sys-boot/arcload
ChangeLog Manifest arcload-0.43-r1.ebuild files metadata.xml
(06:02) www filemgmt # grep KEYW /usr/portage/sys-boot/arcload/arcload-0.43-r1.ebuild
KEYWORDS="-* mips" |
Perhaps try an emerge sync? _________________ Stuart Longland (a.k.a Redhatter, VK4MSL)

I have an O2 running arcload. I have in /etc/portage/package.keywords:
That was all it took to unmask it for me. Good luck!

arcload-0.43-r1 was marked stable the other day, so that entry should no longer be necessary.
