i've successfully installed gentoo on AMD64 and all seems to be working ok, except for framebuffer
in grub.conf i have these lines:
Code: | default 0
timeout 30
title=Gentoo Linux 2.6.14-r5
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/kernel-2.6.14-gentoo-r5 root=/dev/hda2 video=vesafb:mtrr,ywrap,1280x1024-16@60 |
in kernel ...>...> input device support i have 1024 horizontal and 768 vertical set
in kernel ....> ...> graphics support i have VESA VGA support (vesafb) and nVidia framebuffer support
in subsection Console display driver support i have video mode selection and framebuffer console suport
all of these options are directly in the kernel (not modules)
but the system boots always 640x480 into the console. the monitor is capable of 1024x768
do you have any suggestions what i need to change to activate 1024x768 console? |

since your monitor is capable of 1024x768 you shouldn't put 1280x1024 in your grub.conf.
Also do you have the 1024x768 theme installed for the theme you want to run? _________________ Help the confused! Adopt an unanswered post!
