For Christmas I got my fiance that DVD game Scene It? where you watch scenes from movies and answer the questions that follow. Our stand alone DVD player in the bedroom plays it fine, as does my desktop computer, but my MythTV box refuses to play the DVD correctly. I already use xine with the mythtv so that I can view and use DVD menus. It works fine for any DVD that I have tried yet. When I put the Scene It? DVD into the drive it starts giving me jumbled green video and skipping audio, before it ever even gets to a menu. If I put the disk into my desktop computer, the video plays fine. I use the same comand in both places:
Code:
# xine dvd://
. I can not figure out what could be causing the problem.

The only difference between the two is that the desktop has a52 and imagemagick use flags for xine-lib and curl use flag for xine-ui. I can't see how any of these would make the difference.

I hate to try and convert you, but try mplayer.
If you really dont want to do that, perhaps try a downgraded version of xine?
Have you checked to see that both have the same codecs?

I thought mplayer couldn't do DVD menus? I might try ogle (which does), but I think that mplayer is a step in the wrong direction.

I've actaully almost given up on this. Even though my desktop looks like it plays it correctly, it skips parts, specifically the count down after a question is asked. It kind of takes the fun out of the game when the answer pops up immediatly.
